Pros
- Overall, good staff - can be enjoyable in the right role (warehouse/desk) - 99% of staff are great and it's more like a family than a workforce, good training for newbies to tech. - Getting on Training Courses to get the pay bump can be difficult, but put the effort in and you can move up your pay, although not a great deal...you're talking an extra £2 an hour if you complete all the training (which can take years!!) - good quarterly bonuses if the customers are happy. - 10% off anything instore
Cons
- loads of pressure from managers to sales to ram extras down buyers throats, most of the time and depending on which manager it is (as not all are bad)... they don't care about customers...even when they said no they expect you to repeatedly attempt at least 3 times during the closing of a sale, using examples of why they might need it....over and over.. you could have made another sale by then! - they screw up the wages using the lunch pay system (paying you as if you had a 1 hour break instead of 30 minutes) so they can get more hours out of the pay system to keep staff on the shopfloor longer without extra cost!! whether it's accidental or not, it happens! - only 30 mins break on 9 hour shifts too, rotas are only up sometimes as little as 1 week in advance...average 2-3, the law says it must be 4 at least! - like all stores you get the odd idiot "I'm better than you - and you get everything wrong" condescending staff (which puts more pressure on, as you aim to please) that have been there all their lives (or much longer than you) and expect you to know as much as them out of the gate and never make a mistake - I've seen some staff take some right stick! and I know for a fact I will have been on the receiving end loads of times too. - Managers will call other members of staff to other members of staff, especially when they are not hitting targets!! ...after a few months you realise you're getting called worse than sugar by Managers to staff - cliques can sometimes form too, especially at peak times when it's busy and tempers flare and new staff make mistakes, I've seen colleagues criticise other colleagues to me, only to find out they were doing the same about me too others...shame really! But as I say this is an extremely small minority, most of the staff are great to work alongside.
