Pros
• Great culture: innovative, energetic, fun and yet we take work seriously. • Office: West-coast tech feel, much more casual than typical DC companies (as some others have also pointed out). • People: some of the brightest, yet down to earth that I’ve worked with. • Work: rewarding, whether you’re in sales, client services, or another division, you see how your job impacts the organization. • Benefits: they keep getting better. Cvent just announced that we’ll be receiving a matching 401(k) later this year (yay!); costs for family insurance are less than they have been historically (the insurance isn’t cheap, but getting better and the coverage is good); and work-life balance is improving (more PTO, summer hours, and flexible schedules).
Cons
• There are growing pains… because we are growing. Cvent is hiring a lot of employees. Not all of them are always a great fit. For example, some people get into sales, try it out, and decide sales isn’t for them. • Some people may still think work-life balance is an issue. There will always be those that want the 40-hour work week and that isn’t Cvent. We’re a growth company and the recruiters certainly made that clear to me when I was brought on board. Personally, I don’t mind as long as Cvent continues granting me the flexibility to leave early if I need. • The environment can be a little chaotic. Sometimes that can be frustrating; but it also creates opportunities. I’ve been able to impact how we do business over the years in more ways that I can count. That is incredibly rewarding. And the chaos is born out of us growing and doing business – expected and not necessarily a bad thing.
