Pros
Work from home, decent benefits.
Cons
They do not care about their interpreters hard work and dedication. The clients are rude. The employees from BMC, Boston Medical Center, are so far the RUDEST employees I have ever encountered. They expect the interpreters to kowtow and treat them like subordinates. They speak to interpreters in a rude and demeaning manner. Besides being rude, they do not respect the interpreting profession. They think that they can just get on a call and start talking endlessly with no pause, not understanding that there isn’t a machine on the other end. They believe that they know the standards and protocols of the interpreting profession. If that was the case then you wouldn’t need to call an interpreter. The BMC employees are petty and vindictive. They will MAKE UP fraudulent complaints or send frivolous complaints to get back at interpreters that they’ve deemed unfit. That is why I have complaints from BMC clients and no other clients while also having a PERFECT record on monitored calls. I am happy that I no longer work for Cyracom so that I don’t have to deal with Boston Medical Center’s rude, non-compliant and UNKIND staff. For people who are considering working at this company please beware.
