This company used to feel like family to me. Then something happened a couple of years ago. Cannot put my finger on it, but there has been a change in management, buildings and policies. Morale has hit its all-time low for this company due to spontaneous layoffs (all the Project Managers were let go) causing everyone to question if they were next on the chopping block. Of course this spawned rumors no one wanted to talk about. Further demoralization came when my manager would single out and degrade others during team meetings and gave the blanket statement "you are all replaceable". Not a good team building tactic in my book. Sure some were replaced, but it did take a year or more to find someone.
The vision of the company was never fully communicated. Project requirements would change at the last minute requiring rewrites to entire platforms so they can look pretty, but confuse the end users. Since the real IP is the database and the core, DAT needs to invest more into high-availability so these single systems will not bring the business to a halt.
Record profits never find there way past shareholders or upper management. A bonus or profit-sharing system (like back in the good 'ol Jubitz days) would be an nice incentive for potential recruits.
