Pros
- A lot of great, smart people on the front lines and many who are trying to fight the good fight with management. But changing the culture is an increasingly uphill battle. - Growing company - your job is probably safe, unless of course they need to hit certain goals - in which case you could become expendable. - Sufficient benefits.
Cons
Management is in a full-on blitz to give the appearance of a hip, edgy & progressive tech company that supports diversity, equity and inclusion, work-life balance, employee wellness etc. etc. It's mostly lip service and only on the executive radar to the extent that they know it's necessary to get talent on board in a competitive labor market. I’m sure it mostly just annoys them. In order for things to really change, upper management has to really believe in it, and that's unfortunately not what I saw in practice. If what you hear from them sounds good, just know that literally anything and everything coming out of their mouths has been carefully crafted by a team of PR pros and coaches. At the end of the day, the only real guiding principal for executives is creating value for the shareholders of Roper Technologies. The CEO was planted here by Roper and is doing them proud. Roper prides itself in running “asset-light” businesses, which means they want to invest in you as little as possible. The only thing that matters is hitting their financial numbers that don’t really mean anything. And that means that executives are willing to look past poor behavior and bad management as long as your KPIs are good. So “bro” culture continues to run rampant in a business where it’s kinda hard to not hit goals. Nice work bro! Also, the trucking industry is GROSS. Almost everyone is in it just to make money, except for some truckers, who you will spend your days trying to find new ways to squeeze more money out of. It is a toxic competitive environment in the “freight tech” space, with VC money getting thrown around like candy at a parade. As a result, leadership obsesses over every little move, so enjoy the constant distraction and fear mongering!
