Decent Benefits, Poor Culture - Ramp Agent DHL Express Employee Review

Pros

The benefits were fine. the Unionization of DHL Ramp and Tug provided pay raise, systematized processes that were prone to favoritism before. DHL could have paid us more, though.

Cons

There is a lot of issues surrounding the contract, a lot of anti-union sentiment from other workers and some management, as well and limitation of the contract language and opaque communication from DHL managment on how new systems are being implemented or when people can expect parts of the contract to take effect.

Pros

Great compensation, benefits, and hours. Get to know many clients and businesses on route. Lots of exercise. Lots of alone time.

Cons

For some, the alone time can be very lonely. You are in a van or truck for many hours. Podcasts, radio, hands-free: get to love it. Sometimes logistics can be unpredictable. Delays, traffic, on-call pickups. You have to be very flexible and adaptive with fairly quick critical thinking skills to excel at this job.
