Pros
I was a drivers mate so the pay was very good and I got to travel around the country and saw many amazing sights. I was also a gret way to make friends because you were stuck in a lorry/van with a partner all day.
Cons
The hours were very long and management took advantage of the vans with no trackers to run around helping out the lorrys who were running behind after we finished our shifts and made us work illegal hours for drivers. Also it was a very testostrone filled enviroment where if you weren't part of the long term team you were put down and picked on. I was laid off earlier than my contract because some drivers could carry very heavy loads by themselves but I could only carry 40kg on my own and drivers refused to do two man lifts because "it was wasting valuble time" and refused to work with me as a result.
