Pros

My fellow coworkers were the main reason I stayed. I think they look to hire outgoing people. For the most part everyone got along well, making the shifts when you had to be there at 6 a.m. for a truck a little better. Be expected to do all aspects of a job; even the managers have put on the rubber gloves to clean the bathrooms! They do have great merchandise and from what I recall there was a 25% discount. Sometimes various company reps would come in and that was a great learning and networking opportunity. They do have a good new hire training program, and there is room for growth as people continually transfer due to new store openings.Fairly high turnover. Overall the working environment was enjoyable based on the atmosphere created by employees, but not necessarily because of the company itself.

Cons

For the level of work done, the pay was not representative. As I mentioned before, everyone on all levels rotates cleaning duties that include cleaning the public restrooms, mopping, and vacuuming. For such a large, big box store I thought they would hire a cleaning crew. Seems like it would be more cost effective than keeping 7 people around an hour after the store closes. I was in a store that received about three times the merchandise that it was designed to hold, and then left to figure out a solution. I have not worked for many corporations where you have to be resourceful and literally build storage solutions out of things around the store. They do have good insurance, but it was a little costly...from what I recall for one person it was about $70 per biweekly pay period. So they offer it, but they do not cover a large percentage of it. I think you will see benefits monetary wise when you reach upper level management-if you can live off what the pay until you reach that level.

Pros

Employee Discount Opportunity to provide customers an experience in which they can be confident in buying a new shoe for style, function and support-related reasons. Great selling tools, devices and display fixtures to work with

Cons

This is not really a con since I believe it is an important part of the job. Newer and current workers may need to keep up up to date and do research on products in order to be able to help customers effectively and efficiently.

Cons

- Performance expectations were often unclear or inconsistently communicated, Feedback was reactive instead of timely and actionable. - Leadership quality varied dramatically by manager, with limited coaching or mentorship. - Constant shifting priorities without adjusting expectations or workload. - Psychological safety was lacking, Honest communication feel risky. - Leadership messaging around culture didn't match day-to-day reality. - Process was often valued more than impact or results. - Compensation well below market, w/little flexibility during negotiations. - I felt excluded from key conversations and opportunities that were important to my success.
