Pros
DSS offers a good entry-level position for someone seeking a job in IT. Starting pay for Technical Analysts is decent, and extensive training is offered in not only their proprietary software but also in areas such as Windows Server, Linux, ITIL, and many other topics of interest to aspiring IT professionals. DSS will also sponsor you for security clearance with the US Government as most of their software centers around the VA. The benefits are also excellent with a very low-cost option for health insurance and multiple options for different types of accident coverage, life insurance, etc.
Cons
DSS struggles with flexibility for its employees. If you or one of your dependents requires you to be at home to assist with their care, DSS may actively refuse to accommodate the work-from-home option regardless of any paperwork you may be able to provide. Additionally, the Human Resources Department struggles with the proper handling of sensitive topics and outright refused to discuss certain specific benefits that were related to things contrary to the presenter's personal beliefs.
