Pros

Good benefit package, average to high average pay rate compared with other employers in community. The doctors, social workers, registered dietitians, and nursing staff that I worked with at DaVita were intelligent, competent, and devoted to our patients and great to work with overall. Great "team"work to accomplish goals. Clinical team members are very committed to positive patient outcomes and continually working to improve them. Most are willing to go beyond what's expected to benefit the patient.

Cons

Too many managers telling you what to do/ how to do your job. Very top heavy organization. Need more clinical staff working with the patients. Clinical staff often are shared among facilities and pulled in too many directions at once, which makes communication difficult among other things. First layer of management is expected to fill in as nursing staff when they are short staffed in addition to doing their administrative/management duties. After receiving ONLY positive reviews of my performance from superiors, was "let go" for "performance reasons" after 1) refusing to work for free, 2) incurring overtime to address temporary increasied patient load/needs. If there were other 'real' reasons, my manager never told me about them. Patient care is not the first priority of management, money is.

Pros

Depending on location and your clinic, leadership team is incredibly supportive, which keeps the day-to-day work environment relatively stress-free. Having the independence to manage your own scheduling also allows for an excellent work-life balance.

Cons

The initial onboarding and training programs are highly disorganized and lack substance. Additionally, standard pay raises are quite low and do not feel competitive relative to the workload and current market value.
