Good company, but people at the top are compensated too much - Registered Dietitian DaVita Employee Review

Pros

I do have fun at my job. Compared to other jobs I have had as a dietitian I really enjoy and appreciate my value here. People do look up to me as the nutrition expert and I love that I have developed special relationships with my patients. I am not sure if this is necessarily something that is generated by DaVita or if it is true of the entire dialysis industry for dietitians. I have not worked for another dialysis company.

Cons

The FA and those at the top get all the glory while I am the one putting in long days for the "numbers" to be good. The PCTs work hard during turnover, but the rest of the time they are on their phones or the internet. As the dietitian, I do not have that luxury. I am always working--oftentimes on my weekends doing special projects for the patients. I do a little bit of everyone else's job--social worker, AA, and clinical coordinator but no one ever does my job. I work tirelessly and do not feel like that is rewarded.

Pros

Stable company to work for with great benefits. DaVita offers tuition reimbursement, so it pays to go back to school and get a degree. They also help with career advancement and development.

Cons

If you are new to dialysis, it may take a while to reach a decent wage. You are required to work 12 hour shifts, mostly on your feet, and managers will always look to add to your workload.

Pros

Depending on location and your clinic, leadership team is incredibly supportive, which keeps the day-to-day work environment relatively stress-free. Having the independence to manage your own scheduling also allows for an excellent work-life balance.

Cons

The initial onboarding and training programs are highly disorganized and lack substance. Additionally, standard pay raises are quite low and do not feel competitive relative to the workload and current market value.
