Pros
*Getting to work alongside some amazing and dedicated clinical teammates *Flexibility of work schedule (ex. working 4-10s, etc.) *Ability to build strong clinical relationships with long term patients
Cons
*There is little to no financial benefit of staying once you are fully licensed *Management often lacks understanding of the Social Worker role (resulting in lack of appreciation for their contributions in the clinic) *Many decisions are made (ex. changing Social Worker clinic locations, designating social workers as "float staff" after they are hired) without input or consultation from the social workers themselves *The DaVita M.O. of "do more with less" really impacts Social Workers. For example, leadership/management are constantly rolling out new projects and initiatives that have nothing to do with social work. Nonetheless, they expect Social Workers to take the lead on many of these initiatives without considering how this will affect their actual clinical role and work requirements. They continue to add responsibility, without taking any other duties away.
