Pros

Great product, Training, location (Bos),

Cons

Customer Complaints: Despite a planned six-figure budget, Datadog couldn't provide upfront pricing estimates, claiming they needed the system running first Datadog provided inadequate response and proof of concept Basic pricing questions went unanswered No written cost estimates provided Company Response: Leadership focuses solely on new sales and increasing call volume Ignores pricing transparency concerns Result: Customers switching to Dynatrace and competitors One customer had to manually calculate and configure reserved capacity to optimize costs The core issue appears to be Datadog's lack of pricing transparency, causing customer frustration and churn to competitors like Dynatrace.

Pros

Datadog has a strong product, smart coworkers, and a fast paced environment that teaches you a lot quickly. I learned a tremendous amount about observability, technical discovery, outbound prospecting, and how modern engineering organizations operate. The company has also gives reps exposure to large accounts and technical conversations early in their careers.

Cons

The ramp for newer AEs can feel steep, especially in a hgihly competitive outbound environment. Success often depends on timing, territory, pipeline momentum, and consistent coaching. There can also be a significant pressure tied to activity metrics and pipeline generations, which may be difficult for reps still developing confidence and process consistency.
