Pros

I enjoyed my time at AAM. I was a plant FA but the original structuring with corporate finance was great. AAM has a small company feel despite its size. For the most part it was a collaborative environment at both the plant and corporate level, but you have to want to be in that type of environment to succeed. Be curious and interested in the processes at the plant, and how external customer demand directly ties into your plant. Working in automotive is interesting, dynamic, and having the right product mix at your plant makes for an interesting work day.

Cons

Difficult to move up. Applied and interviewed for a position at WHQ that I was greatly interested in but unfortunately was not selected. High turnover and mismanagement at my plant over my tenure. My plant was going through a rough time towards the end of my time there, creating high turnover and a tense environment. Pay and title were definitely not commensurate with the level of work I was taking on, and unfortunately with the constant reshuffling of my plant it was clear I was not moving up in terms of pay nor title. I ultimately decided to leave because of this.
