When I interviewed, I asked specific questions about how much importance is placed on metrics. I was told that they mattered in terms of performance reviews. However, I feel they severally underestimated the importance of metrics day to day. Metrics and performance are constantly part of the conversation. It is not impossible to hit the desired metric goals; however, the daily emphasis on hitting these numbers could be stressful for those anxious or uncomfortable with it. Plus, I think when you take an advising role, you don't expect metrics to be the most important priority. Student care is definitely #1 in terms of priority but hitting those metric numbers is a close second.
