Pros

Great benefits. Lots of PTO. Insurance and retirement are wonderful.

Cons

Network/Server/ Infrastructure Team management is a joke. You wouldn't notice a difference in workflow if they were to disappear. We are overworked and underpaid. Work life balance is non existent with an exhausting growing list of projects and outages. Any attempt to consult with management about issues leads to lectures of what we're "doing wrong" in their eyes. They don't understand what we do or what it takes to do our jobs. They take advantage of people who have worked there over 10 years and refuse to see their value or promote them. Their solution to the growing turnover is to consolidate workloads to pile onto already overworked employees. They won't promote from within making our department an increasingly revolving door for quality talent. Our management is good at running off people with hard working ambition and innovative ideas by burning them out. They won't hire more working class positions but they want to hop on the project manager bandwagon, ushering in more beurocracy and worthless policy that makes it much hard for us that do all the work. You will sit on a lot of meetings, meetings about the meetings, be asked to document what was covered in the meetings, and then be asked by several parties about what you already covered in the meetings. If this is for you, come work for Denton County. If not, run far away.

Pros

You are well trained, and you will have all the information you need to know before you get on the floor and begin to work by yourself. The staff and the higher-ups are very much supportive and hands-on.

Cons

The schedule it’s a rotating schedule and there’s not much room for promotions unless someone leaves the job.
