Pros

* Ticks all of the checkboxes for a promising startup: good talent level on staff, business makes sense, clear path to profitability, the timing is right, has a very smart CEO, and the backing of top VC firms * Company has a flat organization and anyone has the opportunity to take ownership of things and make a big impact * If the company can scale and execute successfully, it has a real chance to become a major player in the logistics industry and have a very successful IPO * Diversity has improved a lot since I joined (though there's still room for improvement)

Cons

* Work-life balance can be challenging. HOWEVER, this is my third startup and the other two i have worked at were worse in that regard. As you might expect, their Glassdoor reviews are also full of comments about high-stress and high-pressure work environments. * Salaries are lower than other Bay Area startups since the focus is on equity * A large proportion of the engineering staff are new grads so there is a need for more experienced engineers and managers to balance them out * Turnover had been very low, and what turnover we've had were mostly limited to interns. But it has ticked up in recent months, suggesting people are starting to burn out * Most of the Internships offered are not traditional internships. Rather, they are employment trial periods and can be too long and stressful for many

Pros

- If you showcase talent, you will move up the company. No time-gated promotions like other companies. - Get to work on really interesting, disruptive technology. - You get to wear many hats and work on side projects that interest you. - Great meal service.

Cons

- Fully onsite positions, but there is a lack of facilities on-site. Long term a gym, more meeting rooms, better eating facilities would be better.

Pros

- Lots of opportunities for problem solving. - Great robotics platform to learn and develop (if you can get into the right work group). - Pay is decent for the industry. - Benefits are very generous.

Cons

- The environment is stressful (understandable for a startup) but hard work doesn’t feel rewarding or appreciated. Be ready to work a lot and not be recognized for it. - The team seems very reactive to problems instead of anticipating/scheduling for them, making the workload more stressful than necessary. - Teams are heavily segregated from each other making, communication of tasks and priorities difficult. - As a technician, I was rarely asked for help by the engineering staff for mechanical problem solving or design input (I have extensive experience in both). - Company culture is nonexistent. Company social events are few and far between, often feeling thrown together without much thought. Any suggestions for improving culture are snubbed or deprioritized. - Career growth plans are not taken seriously. Yearly reviews for compensation adjustments are promised by management but are not executed. - The CEO has great energy and optimism but lacks true leadership skills and is not inspiring. Those in top leadership positions who reasonably challenge the CEO are usually fired and replaced with more “agreeable” people.
