Many of the technical leaders are inexperienced and lack adequate management skills as well as technical or industry background. They tend to be more focused on pleasing the upper management rather than actively driving and contributing to the innovative technology. This can create unfulfilling and toxic work environment that lacks meaningful support, guidance, and collaboration. The CEO, despite success in previous software ventures, lacks the qualifications to lead a hardware company, and his leadership style has driven away individuals with the right expertise, either through terminations or voluntary departures. He leads from a remote European location and sometimes makes impractical and scientifically unsound decisions about the company's operations. Decision-making is highly centralized with him making unilateral and frequently rash choices. Constantly shifting priorities leads to chaos and drains employees' energy as they struggle to determine the company's current focus. Upper management largely consists of yes-men who follow the CEO’s directives unquestioningly, contributing to poor decision-making and subpar product quality. The HR department is practically useless and represents a culture of verbosity over productivity. The company has adopted toxic corporate behaviors and frequently fails to treat its employees with the basic respect they deserve. Compensation is disappointing, with meager raises and a promotion system that often appears to be based on favoritism rather than actual merit and performance. Benefits have been declining over the past couple of years due to company’s financial difficulties and CEO’s extreme cost-cutting measures and overly frugal approach. Unless you have no other options, it’s advisable to steer clear of Diamond Foundry, especially if you’re early in your career. The drawbacks outweigh any potential benefits of working here.
