Pros

A few times throughout the year employees are given additional 20% discount on top of regular employee 25% discount.

Cons

Store Manager doesn't deal with conflict and that is the shadow she casts. Assistant Manager is pretentious, commanding respect that she hasn't earned. They pretend like they work in a prestigious store. Not so--the store is literally falling apart around them. Tons of exposed asbestos and black mold. Women's restroom smells like what I imagine a 6 month old filthy catheter bag would--it's that bad. Technology is so far outdated, it's nearly impossible to do the job as required. Most of the management team is a joke. It is truly reminiscent of 7th or 8th grade. They are that immature. Everything is above their "pay scale" as employees are told on a regular basis. Most of them have no idea how to treat people humanely. They talk about employees behind their backs and when confronted their response is a lie. They are ineffective and incompetent and they pit employees against each other. This is actually their forté. Hands down, Dillard's is the absolute WORST EXPERIENCE WORKING that I have ever had. They also have the WORST BENEFITS PACKAGE I have ever seen. Forget about PTO or vacations--have to work over a year before any of that is available to you. Not even paid holidays when you start. Working in this environment at Dillard's tends to make you hate everything.

Pros

I gained good customer service and problem solving experience while working here. You learn how to multitask under pressure. I also gained experience gift wrapping(I found out I enjoy this part of the job a lot), shipping orders, and overall in store functions. I met many supportive and enjoyable coworkers while working here as well as memorable customers.

Cons

The main Cons of working here were: -Chronic understaffing -Too many responsibilities expected from one associate -Feeling unsupported by main management - Hard work and extra effort often goes unrecognized - High stress due to unrealistic workload expectations - Limited opportunities for actual feedback to management to actually improve
