Pros

If you are looking for a career in retail with a lot of opportunity for advancement, this is it. There are many tools you are given to succeed, as long as you follow them. Human Resources and upper management are strong and consistent.

Cons

Middle and lower management can have very unrealistic expectations. There are many people in middle management who do not do their job effectively, and take it out on their team or store managers. Training is not comprehensive, so many managers do things "their own way" which causes a lot of confusion, dissension and an inconsistency between stores and districts.

Pros

The job itself is easy. The cash register, stocking (especially the totes and dry truck) and cleaning are so simple however there are certain things that make it difficult, although the work itself is not (under the right circumstances.)

Cons

They never have enough people on shift so it’s always difficult to get things done. It seems like all the managers I know from the store I worked at and the surrounding ones are all so deep into drama it made me wonder if I was back in high school. Dry truck always seems to bring far too much and the stores are so little that overstock is a huge issue here. The reason I ultimately left was due to severe mistreatment and some safety concerns I had regarding some past experiences. I am very glad I left and I would not ever go back.
