Pros
- The environment is casual - There are some good perks (fitness activities, food trucks, top golf/bowling nights) - Lots of happy hours if you're into that sort of thing - Employees willing to have your back when needed - It's easy to schedule time off when you need to, and management is understanding of your circumstances - Usually go to a movie theater for quarterly update meetings (don't get to watch a movie, unfortunately)
Cons
- There can be a lot of office gossip.. it's like reliving the high school hellscape all over again - Stratification of employees is fairly even, so there's almost no room for promotion. I never advanced even after several years - Be prepared to take on work that you're not supposed to be doing, because they're too cheap to hire new employees (under the guise of 'building character') - Turnover is constant, and the issue is brushed aside as the norm in the industry - Change is also constant; it seems like strategy goes whichever way the wind is blowing that day just 'cause - Management will make promises they don't honor - Every project is needed ASAP; planning is almost nonexistent - Punished for doing good work; you'll gain even more responsibility on top of the monotonous work you had when you started the job - Guilted for not attending work events; because employee age range tends to skew younger; feels like they just don't 'get' the responsibilities of having a family and living life outside of work - They love meetings here. When I say love, I mean LOVE. - The company seems to be more reactive than proactive (playing catchup and copying ideas) - Management juggles different leadership roles without the expertise needed in each of them - A lot of tech tools are poorly thought out and stuck back in the 90s; it's not unusual for things to break down when you need them the most - This is a build the plane while flying company - Micromangement is common - Get ready to listen to a lot of people communicating nonsensically with office buzzwords - There have been a lot of budget cut backs recently and it feels like things are tightening up since the new buyer, Court Square, took over - Eating out is frequent, so your wallet may be hurting depending on your situation
