Pros

Global, remote-first company with good benefits and fair pay

Cons

The quest to make EDB Postgres an AI company isn't working. The platform doesn't work and 0 customers use it, and the positioning is severely overcomplicated and fabricated. In the process, exorbitant amounts of time, money, and energy are wasted and employees are left frustrated and burnt out. The product team knows it, the sales team knows it—it's not fun. Employees have been promised equity, but the company is so far away from being good and getting bought. The continual leadership changes, team cuts, repositions and rebrands, launches, and strategy shifts have not moved EDB forward; they've lost strong talent and heart in the process. What's more, the current leadership team poses as empathetic and supportive, but they're actually ruthless, ego-driven, and ultimately unable to create sustainable success. Specifically, the marketing org picks favorites and is cliquey, and has a delusional sense of self and the prospect of "sovereign data" catching on. The leadership style blatantly wastes the team's time, constantly changing direction and backtracking. It's rude. Within that org, comms is being groomed to follow suit and lead without any real compassion; it's all faked. The inflated egos and the notion that EDB comms are life and death are frankly laughable. The marketing team has icky energy, unfortunately. Leadership is skilled at remaining poised, but you cannot trust them. For example, they'll play their cards so it does not appear that you're being pushed out, but you clearly have been. They should be sued (and have been), but that's just one more thing not worth the energy.

Thank you for taking the time to share your perspective. We’re genuinely sorry to hear that your experience at EDB was a disappointing one. Feedback like this—whether positive or critical—matters deeply to us and helps inform how we grow as an organization. We acknowledge that EDB has undergone a significant amount of change in recent years, including leadership transitions, strategy shifts, and the evolving direction of our product offerings. These changes were driven by our desire to position EDB for long-term success and innovation in a rapidly transforming technology landscape. We recognize that this level of transformation can create uncertainty and fatigue, and we are committed to supporting our teams through it. Regarding our marketing and communications organizations specifically: culture, trust, and psychological safety are priorities, and we are actively working to foster inclusion, clarity, and accountability across all teams. We are truly sorry to hear that your experience did not reflect those goals. Favoritism, toxic behavior, or leadership driven by ego is not aligned with the values we hold ourselves to. If these concerns were experienced, they should have been—and still can be—raised through the appropriate channels internally or via our independent reporting mechanisms. As for our AI and data platform strategy: we are proud of the work our teams are doing to bring innovative capabilities to market, including through EDB Postgres and our efforts in sovereign data. We stand by our belief in the opportunity ahead, and we continue to engage closely with customers and partners as we refine and grow. We also take seriously any claims related to fairness, equity, or legal concerns, and investigate them thoroughly and respectfully when raised. EDB is a company in motion, and we are not perfect. But we are committed to learning, improving, and becoming a better place to work every day. For current employees who may share similar concerns, we encourage open dialogue with managers, HR, or any of our trusted internal channels. We value transparency, and we are listening. We wish you the best in your next chapter and thank you again for sharing your point of view.

Pros

EDB is totally one of those rare companies where the mission and the people align perfectly. We’re at the forefront of enterprise Postgres and AI and that’s not just marketing speak. It’s the reality of our work every single day. The team is incredibly talented, collaborative, and generous with their knowledge. Whether you’re working across engineering, product, or customer-facing roles, you’ll find people who are deeply invested in both the technology and each other’s success. Leadership has a clear, compelling vision for where EDB is headed, especialy around sovereign data and AI; they communicate this with conviction. It’s empowering to work somewhere where you can see the roadmap and understand how your contributions fit into the big picture. Career growth is real here. EDB lives its core value of “Grow and Evolve”. I’ve experienced it firsthand, and I’ve watched colleagues step into bigger roles as the company continues to scale.

Cons

EDB moves fast, which is mostly a feature, not a bug. If you thrive in a high-energy environment and enjoy wearing multiple hats, you’ll love it. Those who prefer a slower, more structured pace may find the workload demanding at times.
