Pros
Flexible schedule (PTO requests usually approved) Great smaller department managers
Cons
I was very excited to began working here, as it was my first "lab" job straight from school. Definitely gained experience but that's about it. Many people complain about lack of money from a job, but EMSL is REALLY BAD! The raises are too tiny (2.5% max), and they drag their feet giving it to you (months for evaluation feedback) and this is if they even give you a raise. Benefits are pretty wack and everyone complains about the health insurance. There is little to no opportunity for advancement, but always more and more work to do for the same base pay. Our yearly employee survey falls on deaf ears, management does not care because they're all receiving way better benefit packages than those of us in the lab putting in all the hard work. Senior management (aka the kids, husbands, wives etc.) walk right past the hard workers from the labs, in the hallways and say nothing, not even fake a friendly smile. CEO does the same thing! Just rude. Nepotism is real in this place and even friends and neighbors of senior management get their unqualified kids hired or send in samples that are treated like bricks of gold. Like previous reviews stated, bad plumbing was blamed on staff. First the women (blaming sanitary napkins and tampons) then the men. Now they're getting on everyone about parking placards in the lot. Priorities are really jacked in this place. Good workers have been forced out due to lack of appreciation and lack of pay...when instead some of the directors and managers should go instead!! Just gain your experience, pay a couple of bills or two, then resign!!! The turnover rate is HIGH here!!!
