Pros

The benefits were excellent, including medical, dental, and vision coverage. When I was hired in 2010, PTO was determined by a combination of age and tenure. By the time I left in December 2016, I had accumulated about five weeks of vacation.

Cons

In 2017, upper management decided to close the Tyler, TX division, which had been operating for at least 17 years. I had planned to retire from EOG, but that decision changed everything. I was given the choice to relocate or be laid off. Because I could not afford the cost of moving, I was laid off, which had a significant negative impact on my life. It took me more than two years to find another job in the oil and gas industry in Tyler, TX.

Pros

- nice offices - good coffee and snacks in break room

Cons

- Horrible manager: easily threatened woman who has been at the company for a decade. She is petty, immature, passive aggressive, and has a known track record for PIPing and firing people. -24/7 schedule. You will not sleep. It’s a literal meat grinder. The company is well known for this. - Very siloed and super favortistic. They only give opportunities to favored alumni or nepos. - No ops geo or geotech has the opportunity to move up. They disclose it in the interview. Which is bs because the CEO is a geologist who started at the company as a geotech and worked his way up… - Compensation was ~$20k under market rate. Most companies have contract steering too, so this was two jobs for not even the market rate of one.
