Pros

Good product, good training, very good leader in Sales, nice people in general.

Cons

The environment turns you off from the start if you've ever worked for a professional company. You log in and log out even in sales. (even for lunch) and if you forget an alarm is sent to your manager. Very low pay for todays market. Coupled with no expenses paid out for gas etc....and you spilt your commish 50/50 with your "mentor" for the first year.......your checks aren't where they should be for the amount of work.........They monitor you to the point you can't even set up a printer at your home office..........not sure the reason for that. No direct deposit they actually mail out your paper check to you. 6pm meetings every night 5 days a week if you're in sales. If your on the east coast forget leaving at 4pm on a Friday to catch a kids event. Even on Xmas Eve! They tell you their optional, miss 2 and you'll quickly find out what optional means......and it's the 4 same guys talking about the same thing every night. My training class was 3 guys. We all left within a month mainly because of these meetings. I bring this up because they'd probably have more retention if they eliminated these and I'm sure that would help JM who's a very capable leader.

Pros

Working at EarthCam has been a genuinely positive and supportive experience, both professionally and personally. One of the things that stands out most is how accessible and practical leadership is. Expectations are clearly communicated, questions are answered directly, and feedback is constructive and timely. I’ve personally experienced managers taking the time to explain priorities, help problem-solve when challenges come up, and focus on solutions rather than blame. EarthCam also shows real flexibility and trust. I’ve been able to work from home frequently, which has made a huge difference in my ability to balance work and family life. When my child has needed me, the company has been understanding and supportive, allowing me to adjust my schedule while still meeting my responsibilities. That level of flexibility isn’t just talked about—it’s genuinely practiced. The company does hold people to clear performance standards. From what I’ve observed, feedback is given early and fairly, and people are given opportunities to improve. Many of the negative reviews online appear to come from former employees who were no longer with the company after expectations weren’t met. That context doesn’t reflect the experience of employees who are engaged, accountable, and committed to doing their jobs well. For those who take ownership of their work, want to grow, and value direct communication, EarthCam is a place where effort is noticed, trust is earned, and flexibility is real. It’s a company that supports its employees as professionals and as people—and that’s why many choose to stay long-term.

Cons

High expectations and accountability
EarthCam is not a place to coast. Expectations are clear and performance matters, which can feel demanding for people who prefer a more hands-off or slower-paced environment. Fast-moving priorities
Because the company is growing and innovative, priorities can shift quickly. This requires flexibility and strong communication skills, which may take time to adjust to. Direct feedback culture
Feedback is honest and straightforward. While this helps people grow, it can feel intense at first if you’re used to softer or less direct communication styles. Lean teams mean wearing multiple hats
Teams are efficient and lean, so employees are often trusted with broader responsibilities. This is great for learning and growth, but it can feel challenging if you prefer very narrow roles. Structure favors self-starters
EarthCam works best for people who take initiative and manage their time well. Those who need constant direction may find the environment challenging.

Pros

Beautiful, modern, and well-maintained campus. The kitchens were often stocked with food and snacks for employees. The top row of the vending machines was free, which was a nice perk. The company occasionally hosted parties and employee events. Some employees (favorites) received recognition for birthdays and work anniversaries. Bikes to ride if you want (it was discouraged).

Cons

My experience at EarthCam was disappointing. From the beginning, there were several red flags that I tried to overlook, but over time they became difficult to ignore. The culture felt extremely micromanaged, and there appeared to be very high turnover. It was common to see employees leave or be let go, which created an environment of uncertainty and low morale. In my experience, there seemed to be a small inner circle of employees who held significant influence, and employees who fell out of favor often felt isolated or scrutinized. I also felt that the company relied heavily on monitoring and surveillance, which contributed to a lack of trust in the workplace. The overall atmosphere often felt tense and overly controlled rather than collaborative and supportive. Another concern was the HR function. From my perspective, HR did not always demonstrate the level of professionalism, training, or employee advocacy that I would expect from a human resources department. I believe the company benefits from hiring younger professionals and individuals eager to gain experience in a challenging job market, but I would encourage prospective employees to research the organization carefully, ask detailed questions during the interview process, and pay attention to any concerns they encounter before accepting an offer. While others may have had different experiences, this was mine, and I would not choose to work there again.
