Pros

Compensation and benefits. the cafeteria at Saint Joes is fairly close

Cons

This place blew my mind. some of the staff are as sick as the patients. The culture is horrible. It fosters and promotes gossip. They only hire according to looks apparently as you will find mostly attractive women working here. They don't consider ED on the "same level" as other mental illnesses making it clear that people with ED are more educated or of a higher social stature. I was told on many occasions having come from a psych background that "it's not like that here" "it's not the same as psych" when referring to basic patient safety questions. It's more of a spa than it is a mental health facility. If you have any real psych experience you will not enjoy this, if you have none it will give you unrealistic expectations of what mental health treatment looks and functions like.

Pros

ERC Pathlight has a meaningful mission, and many employees genuinely care about the work being done for patients and families. I appreciated the opportunity to contribute to healthcare marketing initiatives and gained valuable experience during my time there. I also worked with several talented and dedicated colleagues.

Cons

My primary reason for leaving ERC Pathlight was leadership and team culture. The biggest challenge was not the work itself, but the management environment. I experienced a leadership style that felt toxic, overly critical, inconsistent, and lacking in support. Communication often felt more focused on pointing out mistakes than providing coaching, clarity, or opportunities for improvement. Favoritism was also a rampant issue within the company. Employees were frequently expected to navigate unclear processes and shifting priorities with limited guidance. Asking questions or requesting clarification could feel discouraged rather than supported, which made it difficult to feel psychologically safe. Concerns about leadership behavior did not feel like they were addressed in a meaningful way. Growth opportunities were also a concern. During the interview process, I was given the impression that there would be opportunities for development, but after joining the organization I was told there were limited growth opportunities within my role. **Advice to Future Employees:** Ask detailed questions about your specific manager, team culture, growth opportunities, how feedback is handled, and how processes are documented and shared before accepting a role. The mission is meaningful, but your day-to-day experience will depend heavily on your leadership team and management style.
