Pros

On the whole, Elliott is a good place to start and maintain a decent career. This is one of the few corporations based in the Pittsburgh area where one can literally spend one's entire career (like our parents and grandparents used to do). I work with many folks who have 25 plus years at the company, and in general, folks tend to be satisfied with pay and benefits. Elliott is most especially generous with its continuing education program, and managers are keen to have their employees advance their education.

Cons

Elliott suffers from a severe lack of mid and senior level leadership talent. There are so many "mangers of things" and few "leaders of people." That is to say that employees tend to be viewed as ones and zeroes like some function of the Matrix binary code, rather than as human beings. The CFO and his cronies are particularly off-putting, and they attempt to latch onto and micromanage nearly everything that falls within their purview (and much that rests outside of it). That being said, the new COO and CEO are, so far, working to shape a very different culture from that of the last regime. The new culture seems to be attempting to empower mid-level managers with the authority to actually make decisions (without fear of reproach). I look forward to seeing many more positive changes in the years to come.
