Pros

Dream job for anyone looking to relive their high school days or a frat in college filled with video games, beer Friday and the ability to run around and slam phones down and swear as much as you want. Also, you really do learn about logistics and the industry as a whole. I also felt like I had some great sales experience that I was able to take to my next role, and I have Echo to thank for that.

Cons

Just like high school, expert a miserable working environment if you aren't part of the in crowd. Forget promotions, being included in any social events or having your manager say more than 5 words a day to you. Also be prepared to work and work and work but not have that matter unless someone wants to get a drink with you after work. I would never a million years recommend this place to someone with a family (or the desire to start one), anyone that doesn't drink or anyone actually serious about logistics and their future. It's hard to be part of a "team" when everyone on your "team" talks about how great the bar was that weekend or their softball team last night, including your manager, and you just sit there wondering what's wrong with you that no one invites you. Other than the environment, I thought the road to making money was long. I am competitive but this isn't set up in a way that the best person wins the business, you get bullied out of potential business and the advice you get is "toughen up". I just couldn't take it anymore. I'm not saying it's not possible, I just wasn't able to take it anymore. I've been gone for about six months and feel happier now that I left. I looked at the reviews and see a lot of complaints about hours and about the money and I think that's a bunch of bull. The hours are long but they talk you through that in the interview process so you know. I also don't know any successful people my age (2 years out of college) that make a lot of money and don't work long hours so people need to toughen up. My issue was how my manager treated me and how the department as a whole was not set up for my financial success.

Thanks for providing some feedback on your experience with Echo. It is rewarding to hear you gained valuable sales experience you can take with you throughout your career. Sales is a tough job and is definitely not for everyone. Carrier Sales often comes with long hours and stress because of the demanding industry. We are a pay for performance culture and the bottom line is that hard work get rewarded. The harder you work, the bigger your paycheck. A large majority of our reps have achieved financial success from our compensation structure and, as long as the work ethic is there, see great results. Because we often promote from within, managers are very engrained in team culture and have first-hand experience doing the actual job. This positions them to be helpful and easily accessible, they sit right on the sales floor, to answer questions quickly and efficiently. All new managers complete a comprehensive training program on how to develop each individual employee. I hope you had the chance to discuss your concerns in more detail with HR, supportive and understanding managers are very important to our company culture. Like you mentioned, our employees do a lot of activities both inside and outside of the office, we encourage everyone to get to know each other and build positive relationships to make coming to work enjoyable. We work very hard to keep Echo’s culture engaging, innovative and energetic and I am sorry to hear your experience wasn’t more positive. We are very proud of our social culture and believe it is a place where our employees are empowered to work collaboratively and do their best work. Thank you again for taking the time to write a detailed review of your time with Echo. We appreciate all feedback and make sure it is relayed to the appropriate business leaders. Good luck with your next position!
