Pros

I've moved around a couple of the companies within Echostar (Dish and Boost Mobile), and it can be a good place to start your career, especially for entry level people looking to gain technical experience and make use of the company’s resources to learn new skills. There are opportunities to move around within departments, which is really the only way to increase your pay. Many of the non-IT departments are diverse, collaborative, and overall enjoyable if you’re passionate about your work. I've worked with a lot of really good people at this company and there are a lot of very smart and skilled individuals. For those early in their career or looking to build a resume, Echostar can serve as a solid stepping stone.

Cons

The IT department, unfortunately, is a completely different environment. It has a toxic culture with little to no inclusion, and there’s a strong sense of favoritism and discrimination. Many employees I know have observed or been victim of unethical practices, such as managers encouraging others to submit work under different names to manipulate visibility and justify visa sponsorships for their friends or family members. Leadership tends to form exclusive groups and excludes others from team activities, which fosters division rather than collaboration. Frequent layoffs, a strict onsite policy with no remote flexibility, and upper management’s lack of concern for employee well-being make it difficult to recommend long term employment here.

Thank you for sharing your experience across different parts of our company. It's truly valuable to have feedback from someone who has worked within multiple business units like DISH and Boost Mobile. We are very pleased to hear that you found the company to be a good starting point for an entry-level career, offering opportunities to gain technical experience, learn new skills, and move between departments. We take great pride in the many smart, skilled, and collaborative individuals across our teams who make certain departments an enjoyable place to work. We do, however, take your specific comments about the IT department very seriously. The behaviors and practices you describe are completely inconsistent with the standards we set for our workplace. We are committed to fostering a transparent, inclusive, and accountable environment across all departments. If you have personally experienced or witnessed the behaviors you've mentioned, we strongly urge you to reach out to us confidentially at peopleoperations@dish.com. We would welcome the opportunity to better understand your situation and address these serious matters directly. We appreciate you taking the time to provide this candid feedback. We are always working to be a better company for all our employees.

Pros

Great perks, overtime available at times, great co workers and love helping customers

Cons

Customers yelling at you at 7am before you’ve had your morning coffee, some supervisors micromanaging, the fact that you have to promote promote promote even when customers flat out say no some supervisors want you to keep pushing and that’s honestly a problem for me, if they say no it’s no, we are not in the sales dept. I understand that their numbers are also important but sometimes the pressure is too much, so much so that sometimes I just feel like getting another job if I’m being honest, and I honestly love it but some supervisors do too much, we not only have advanced tech but starlink customers that we have to help, we have a certain time limit for starlink and agents offering starlink to customers then saying” you can call to cancel tomorrow” adds more pressure because now they don’t want you to assist the customer in cancelling now it’s just tickets, tickets is not enough for customers they want a solution not some ticket that’s not going to get them a resolution in a timely manner.
