Pros

Have company vehicle and gas card. Pay not bad until yearly remapping of territories

Cons

Ridiculous workload placed on Route Managers. If you want any sort of a normal life with a family, do not hire on at Ecolab as a Route Manager. Company is driven by greed and they will walk all over you at every juncture. Pay structure and compensation plan very secretive. Good luck getting any sort of a straight answer from financial analysis and planning or even from your own manager regarding miscellaneous unexplained deductions from your paycheck. There is so much wrong about how this company treats the route manger in institutional sales. Sales in the route and territories is where Ecolab gets the majority of their revenue. Yet yearly, Ecolab redistricts/remaps in order to keep your pay at a certain level. Route managers will never be compensated for all of the work that they do. Route managers have to find someone to cover their own territory for vacation time taken even though there are at least 3 levels of management in a given local area branch. Many of the supervisors/managers were promoted not based on merit, but through the good ole boy network. Most supervisors and managers do not have an education beyond that of a high school diploma or maybe some college. There is a huge amount of dead weight in the area management and support centers. I would not wish this job on an enemy unless you are the sort of person who likes to be torn down and walked over.

Pros

The pros are four day work week 10 hour days, with many Fridays volunteer overtime They try to make a friendly environment

Cons

The pay is not as good as the other places around the area – odd for a fortune 200 company Daily quotas on work – some of them are unrealistic Many department supervisors – a.k.a. “coaches “ are pretty good – one or two are not. Typically these are the ones that have been there for 25 years plus. 20 minute break in the morning, 20 minute break for lunch 10 minute break in the afternoon You are truly on your feet for majority of the 10 hour day The corporation tries to make a friendly environment, but very few employees involve themselves in it. Much backstabbing among line workforce, not a healthy environment. Line workforce runs to supervisors constantly about other people when they should be concerned about their own work. Management has their favorites and you could see that by who who they talk to, and who Brown noses them
