Pros
Residents are what make this job. Being with these elderly folks is so rewarding and they all appreciate us medication aides.
Cons
Pay, management, hours, turnover. Watertown SD need a MAJOR change in management. Favorites are played, “coaching” employees for constantly not following policy is never followed. The management does not care or listen to its aides who do nearly 95% of the work while management sits down and dictates unrealistic work. If management changed and they gave the compensation for the work that is expected, they may start seeing a change in turnover, until then, expect to continue to lose a large amount of employees. The turn over rate is really hurting your ones who are dedicated as they are constantly expected to work on their scheduled days off... if you work at assisted living, expect to have maybe 1 day off a week and the next be cut down to 24-32 hours!
