Pros

Flexibility, good pay, branch level managed, autonomy in scheduling your day.

Cons

At the beginning Great Lakes felt like a family type atmosphere and very patient centered and staff centered within the last months we are steering away from that with our recent merge and it’s becoming a financial driven corporation. The recent merge has caused employees to lose a sense of security in their jobs. A lack of security can cause an extreme decline in morale around the office and out in the field which will cause an decrease in employee retention which a lot of staff feels as though that is the goal which is to purge... we have remained out of the loop of what the future of Great Lakes or should I say elara is going to be and that is not good business practice for a company that is striving to maintain a peaceful transition that has been letting go of our friends, colleagues, and seasoned staff weekly without so much as a notice. Trimming the fat is necessary and is needed in any merge but not making staff aware does not make for the greatest welcome wagon into a new company and does not make the survivors of this merge confidant you can run us with integrity... signed, a loyal and almost former employee of the once wonderful Great Lakes Caring...

Pros

Field staff is good, especially the home health aides. Most of the nurses as well. Medical Directors are thorough.

Cons

Local management is poor. Bad communication, short staffed, take patients that live alone in bad situations with no plan for future care. Disasters waiting to happen. Employee well being is poor. No recognition for things you right or patient/ satisfaction. Nurses don’t get adequate time with patients. I
