Pros

Elsevier is a great company, I loved working there and spent a decade there. people are very nice to work with, company values it's employees, lots of benefits and perks. Office are huge and spacious. It's a very secure and stable company to be a part off. Would not have left if circumstances had been a little different.

Cons

Too many people working there for decades, its great but what does it say about the ambition of their employees. IT management are absolutely terrible, by the time I left I was the longest serving person in my team but on the lowest pay, had an impeccable annual review every year, they just don't know how to look after or reward their staff. No prospect of levelling up or promotion within. If they want a higher grade staff, they look external. It's a very white middle England environment. Just look at their IT Management, in all departments, Support, Enterprise, Network, Cloud, Security, etc. I am not saying they are racist, not on the face of it, but the UK IT Senior Management are institutionally very white England. Diversity and Inclusion is totally flawed, unless you are LGBT. It's great environment to work for if you are LGBT Community, very supportive. In every other way, it's all talk, there is no Fairness that they promise. I was promised a pay rise to put me in line with the rest of the Team, after 18 months of promises it never came! They don't develop their staff, they are stuck on the same grade for years, there just isn't any plans or processes in place. So if someone wants to develop themselves they have to leave. Pay is outrageously low, much less then market rate, I left or the next job at almost 45% more, for a similar job, in fact with less responsibility. If you want to attract high caliber people, you don't have to pay them big, just pay fair. Too much gap between managers and staff. and between various departments. If you need to get something done or escalated, it is so hard to get hold of people. Way too many people in IT that are very egotistical.

Thank you for your review. We are pleased to hear that we have great benefits and that our people are great. However, sorry to know that you felt employee development and pay did not meet your expectations and that you felt you weren’t listened to when you were in our organisation. It’s is regrettable that you couldn’t communicate these frustrations while you were with Elsevier. We take them seriously and will discuss how to improve things should we find that the points raised here resonate with our current employees in the same role. We aim to provide a great and inclusive work environment for all and would welcome the opportunity to learn more about your specific experience. If you’re willing to elaborate on these points, please reach us at elseviergdrev@elsevier.com

Thank you for this balanced and thoughtful review. We're glad to hear that our benefits and investment in people are making a positive impact, those are commitments we take seriously. On the process feedback: Leadership is actively reviewing operational workflows, and the advice to listen more closely to employee feedback is something we're holding ourselves accountable to. If you're open to it, we'd encourage you to bring specific examples forward through your team or people and culture contacts. Change is most effective when it's grounded in the real experiences of the people doing the work, and that means you. Feel free to reach out to us at elseviergdrev@elsevier.com to provide more information Thank you for staying engaged and for caring enough to share this. It matters.

Pros

-Great company -Team has talented, experienced account managers and product experts who know the territory well

Cons

West team management is heavy on micromanagement and sets unrealistic territory targets without rep input — high turnover, and long tenure in company seems to shield this manager from accountability and growth
