Pros

On-site gym in the the FiDi location, some excellent and resourceful employees remain despite ongoing changes. Work hours are generally standard 9-5 (although IT can stretch far far beyond that)

Cons

Since the merger of HIP and GHI (the unfortunate birth of Emblem) the company has struggled under poor leadership and a failure to keep up with technology. The new CEO seems hell-bent on outsourcing all claims processing and IT functionality which can only lead to more layoffs. Even worse, the recently acquired medical group ACP is viewed as the company's long-term salvation: send members to low-cost clinics for cost control. Once upon a time EH provided an excellent PPO health insurance plan to its employees: most of my NYC doctors no longer accept Emblem because EH pays too poorly and are 'too difficult to deal with'. Very sad. A new incentive comp policy was announced that changes the distribution of bonus money: employees below director will be awarded bonuses at the discretion of upper management and committee approval.
