Pros

I've been in the business for many years and think Emerald is one of the better companies I've worked for. The senior management is sharp, focused and thoughtful in how they manage the business and approach new opportunities. There is also a concerted effort to create an employee friendly company and I think they are succeeding. Overall my time at Emerald was a very positive one.

Cons

Every company has "cons", even well managed companies like Emerald. If there were any challenges it was due to its acquisition strategy which can sometimes overwhelm centralized departments and impact responsiveness, but there are many, many more "pros" than "cons" at the company.

Thank you for taking the time to write this review. We appreciate your observation that Emerald is continuously striving to improve the employee experience. We have grown rapidly in the past 5 years, and recognize that growth pace can be challenging at times. As you point out, our leadership intends to be thoughtful about how we approach acquisitions while adding to our strong portfolio of shows and publications.

Pros

-Depending on what team you're on, you get a lot of autonomy. (on the flip side, see con- if you're on the wrong team) -Good benefits -Fun events & Travel opportunities

Cons

-People getting laid off left and right all time. One minute you have a team mate and the next they are just gone. -Management is top heavy and operates like a fraternity -If you're on the wrong team every move is watched -Your job is NEVER safe -Imagine with the acquisition that was just announced by Apollo that the reason for layoffs was to become lean before transition. I would hedge bets that this will also continue to be a numbers game and positions are going to be uncertain -Sales plans are always ambiguous and there were even times where the plan wasn't out until several months into the year. Expected to sell over and above but didn't always have a sales plan to follow. It was always changing.
