Pros

Depending on your team/department, incredible people - kind, smart, great work ethic, fun, good mentors, adequate training. Unlimited PTO. Get to keep your airline miles. Employer pays for cell phone. Summer hours (Friday off at 3:00pm local time) between Memorial Day & Labor Day. Domestic travel. Getting hotel points is rare and minimal, but not impossible. No drug test in hiring process.

Cons

Favoritism is rampant. Grossly underpaid. Compensation is not competitive whatsoever. Stagnant starting salaries for at least a decade. Annual cost of living adjustment (disguised as a merit increase) was roughly 3%, rare to receive a 4% or 5%, and that's it. Without a promotion, there will be no significant increase. Back when they were matching 401k, it was only 50% of up to 6%. Fully vested after 3 years. Depending on your department, no training - trial by fire. Little to no opportunities for growth and advancement. Someone either needs to leave or ... if you want to move up. Too many lifers. Why? Loyalty wasn't even rewarded. Also, think about what it means when an individual stays at a company for 20+ years. I'll say it again, Favoritism is rampant. Readers, think about what that implies.

Pros

-Depending on what team you're on, you get a lot of autonomy. (on the flip side, see con- if you're on the wrong team) -Good benefits -Fun events & Travel opportunities

Cons

-People getting laid off left and right all time. One minute you have a team mate and the next they are just gone. -Management is top heavy and operates like a fraternity -If you're on the wrong team every move is watched -Your job is NEVER safe -Imagine with the acquisition that was just announced by Apollo that the reason for layoffs was to become lean before transition. I would hedge bets that this will also continue to be a numbers game and positions are going to be uncertain -Sales plans are always ambiguous and there were even times where the plan wasn't out until several months into the year. Expected to sell over and above but didn't always have a sales plan to follow. It was always changing.
