Pros

Structured environment for new nurses to build strength and confidence in delivering excellent patient care. Emory is a teaching hospital which gives new nurses plenty of educational opportunities to fortify their knowledge. There will always be plenty of encouragement by staff and leaders for the nurse to pursue and advance their careers. Questions are always encouraged and welcomed! Practitioners are friendly and work with the nurses for better patient outcomes. Many physicians value the nurses opinions or suggestions.

Cons

The pay for nurse residents may be considered low when compared to other hospitals. However, the opportunities and advancement in learning outweigh the pay difference.

Pros

Pay and benefits are good

Cons

Leadership needs significant improvement. Promotions often appear to be based more on personal relationships than on experience, qualifications, or selecting the best candidate for the position. Leadership also fails to adequately address bullying and toxic workplace behavior, allowing it to continue unchecked. As a result, many locations feel disorganized and chaotic due to inconsistent leadership, poor communication, and a lack of accountability.
