Pros

Overall the company is progressive and agressive. Work is fast paced and the company is diverse. The employees are great to work with and Empire has some strong managers. The company is strong and does well against its competitors. The organization takes profits and sinks them back into the business resuting in new facilities and expansion opportunities. The organization rewards its employees (every single one of them) from time to time with special gifts - expensive travel bags, digital cameras, cash, etc.). They offer benefits such as wellness incentives, profit sharing, 401k matching and many others. The company also ensures that employees have the latest technology and tools to ensure they have what they need to take care of customers. Empire strives to focus on the customer and customer satisfaction. This is a part of their metrics which they measure themselves against as well as against other Caterpillar dealers. Lastly, this organization is very competitive and strives to be the best Caterpillar dealer in the world and shares these metrics and the standings with the entire organization.

Cons

Executives and upper management are good managers, however, can tend to be too busy to cultivate and nuture subordinates which can have a trickle down effect in some areas. Managers and executives can get too busy to coach subordinates. Instead, subordinates lose out on potentially good mentors. Subordinates initially hold their supervisors, managers, and execs in higher regard with the hope they will take time to teach when required. Sometimes the agressiveness of the dealership may lend to creating too many irons in the fire. This may result in not having enough focus on any one to be as effective or to see it through completion. Empire has great intentions with its initiatives however the strategy, communication, and involvement do not seem to trickle down (as much as the leadership thinks) to the lowest levels of the organization where it needs be driven and managed consistently. Empire appears to have too many corporate initiatives which, in my opinion, overlap or are a cause and effect of one another. The multiple corporate initiatives tend to get blurred by the managerial objectives which may not be clearly tied to each one of the corporate initiatives. This is important as the managerial objectives should be reviewed on a more frequent basis to see how they are actually impacting the corporate initiatives.

Pros

Empire has a legacy of long-tenured employees, great values, and strong guiding principles.

Cons

Empire is a male-dominated company that tends to give special treatment and additional perks to men of equal position, such as company vehicles and advancement opportunities. There are double standards in conduct. There are cases of favoritism - the saying, " it's not what you know but who you know, " definitely applies here.
