Business Outlook
Pros
Healthsouth Bakersfield has outstanding management. Management takes a positive, friendly and supportive approach with staff. The patients are with us longer than at the more acute care hospital so we build relationships with them and their families. The therapy staff is amazing and works wonders with the patients. A fabulous place to gain experience in the nursing field. We practice both team nursing (10 patients with an LVN) and Primary nursing (5 patients no LVN). A great place to learn time management.
Cons
Understaffed. We are often Short CNAs. The CNAS get paid less than at local hospitals so it's hard to retain great CNAs. We do have a coup of amazing ones, and I hope they get a raise so we can keep them.
