Can't see myself retiring here - Senior Software Developer Endpoint Clinical Employee Review

Pros

The biggest benefit of working at endpoint is the impact of the work we do. There is something incredible gratifying to know that you're adding your drop to the bucket in the effort to find cures and treatment to debilitating conditions. There is also a lot of flexibility with work schedules. Even before the pandemic there were many employees working fully remote. Some developers don't start working until around noon, though they work late into the evening to compensate for this!

Cons

There is not much work life balance at this company. I have yet to be able to take PTO without someone contacting me about something that required me to log in and work during my vacation time. If you install Teams and Outlook on your phone you will find yourself constantly being pulled back into work after hours and having your personal time invaded. There have been numerous occasions where testers have sent me a message late in the evening that just says "Hey" to see if they can get me online to answer a question or help them with something. The initial training was not very thorough and the documentation for the system is severely lacking. A lot of important information exists purely as tribal knowledge, so this company is really in trouble if there is any sort of brain drain in the future. The tech stack is pretty outdated and can be frustrating to work with. The company still has not updated to Git, so there is a lot of stepping on toes when two developers have to work on a study concurrently. Being stuck working with WebForms isn't terrible, but I would much rather be working with MVC or a more modern front-end framework. The work I do for endpoint is often tedious and often less technically challenging than desired.

Pros

Onboarding was a great experience where the person leading it made sure that the group knew everything they needed about the industry and more. My manager has been great between helping solve complicated issues and giving great feedback on my work that I can use to improve what I make. I worked within a smaller group, so everything felt more personal. The work life balance felt great being able to work at home. The work culture was welcoming and encouraging to newcomers, great personable manager.

Cons

Internships only last so long!

Pros

Depending who your lead is, you'll have a good lead. From what I heard though, the best one got cut. For the most part, great colleagues. Work is alright, training is also mediocre. This is more of throw all information your way and off you go and learn most of it on the go as the initial training is just the bare basics. When I started, there was a lot of optimism and a great prospect for the future, many possibilities. Pay is okay, you're clocked in then clock out.

Cons

The new director, the new associate director that replaced a great one who had been there for ages. (Btw, they have outsourced many positions including half of tech support to workers in India). Many process changes (usually changes are good but the changes being implemented from what I saw are going to do damage). Too much focus on this new AI product and the main service we offer is getting worse. Won't be surprised if clients go elsewhere. Moral went completely down, no sense of belonging and interacting (this is important especially if a lot of workers are remote). Processes change constantly and project managers will throw questions/work onto tech support when in reality they should know how their studies are built and the answers.
