Pros

Benefits like ESPP/RSUs, amazing data centers with key locations and excellent/friendly technicians, being known as "The Internet" given the interconnection/colo presence with a neutral-leaning business stance, there are quite a few awesome engineers and managers, a recent series of management changes to provide new(and hopefully, better) direction/vision, and possible peering options.

Cons

Performance reviews are a joke(Pulse survey/SMART goals): sure, there is career coaching and 1:1 sync-ups occasionally, but management rarely takes the feedback seriously and doesn't appear to have the courage to do anything to break modus operandi and improve things. For the current and potential power Equinix has, management and senior management squabble and squander it constantly with political fights leaving casualties being the customer(and their customers) and the employees. There is a heavy contract workforce causing quality issues and a rotating one in keeping the taxable employment down(and profitability/dividends up) justifiably so to some extent. The speed and scale with which software engineering delivers is astonishing for the workforce size: they're a byproduct of poor management, constantly shifting priorities/reorg'ing, and a lack of capable engineers. Additionally, not enough engineers rebuke plans/ideas and, in turn, endure a poor work/life balance that comes out in production quality which I think has lead to a state of mediocrity at best.

Pros

Hybrid which is nice, for what the job entails pay is ok I suppose at 60k. Every Wednesday there's food for employees.

Cons

Earlier in the year the frisco office was closed down, so many employees including myself who add living arrangements now have to travel 3 days a week to the downtown office. Which is 45 minutes + with traffic. On top of that the shift times suck as someone who appreciates work life balance. 7 am to 7 pm. I would also say that there are many organizational changes and career growth seems limited.
