Good for Experience - Registered Nurse Evergreen Healthcare Group Employee Review

Caring management, competitive pay, generally generous staffing ratios. Management takes resident safety very seriously and looks for areas to improve. I was given an opportunity to learn new skills and work as a restorative aide. Care that the residents receive is significantly higher than at the other facilities I've worked in. If I had to live in a nursing facility, I would definitely want to be here.

The same things found at other similar facilities: employees frequently calling out or showing up very late without much visible repercussion. Ratios based on number of residents rather than acuity, unbalanced shower schedule (one CNA may have 4 showers in a shift while another has none). As with other facilities, pressure is put on staff to stay for another 8 hours to cover aides who have called out, even if we have just worked a full shift which we showed up on time for and worked hard on throughout. This- along with CNAs having to cover for others who show up late- leads to responsible staff members being urged to make up for less responsible members. Maybe an on-call CNA lead could cover shifts or work to find coverage, I don't know. I don't have a sure solution but I just know I hate when I'm clocked in on time and working hard and then I'm forced to pick up the slack for co-workers who did not. And unfortunately there's rarely either recognition or apparent repercussions when this happens.

One of the best parts of working as an Activity Assistant is seeing the smiles on my residents' faces. It's absolutely heartwarming and brings me so much happiness knowing I can make a positive difference in their day. Moments like these remind me why I love what I do. ❤️

One of the hardest parts of working as an Activity Assistant is watching residents decline in health or lose their independence. It can be emotionally difficult to build close relationships and then experience loss. Some days are physically and mentally exhausting, but despite the challenges, being able to bring comfort, joy, and companionship to my residents makes it all worthwhile.
