Pros
- Co-workers and team dynamics are strong - Some flexibility depending on who your “boss” is - Pay, 401k match, bonus opportunity - Stability (as long as you suck up to the right people)
Cons
- Benefits recently reduced - Good old boy culture with toxic male leadership who openly make sexist comments - Limited advancement opportunity (been told by multiple leaders expect a minimum of 10 years for a promotion) - Pervasive culture of discrimination - especially towards women. Witnessed open negative comments about women that if reported, would get the reporter in serious trouble. - Poor safety culture staffed primarily by people without experience in the field of professional safety. Poor safety record and the company doesn’t care. - There is a small “in crowd” that controls everything, mostly a group of white males focused on profits over people. Be careful to be too honest or you’re viewed as a problem or “negative”. - If you aren’t a people leader, you’re nothing.
