I am endlessly appalled at Exeter’s gross practices, towards both customers and those that work for Exeter.
Exeter is an insecure company. Terrible financial foundation (nobody should brag about being “4th place” for sub prime lenders) and management that is morally weak. If you’re not on a management level and worshipping the company, you will not have respect.
Management will constantly threaten you with write ups and termination if you don’t follow their hundreds of micromanaging rules, even if you’ve never had any issues since those have been implemented. This is in addition to making up rules along the way to punish you, based on their peculiar personal preferences. Employees are treated like high school students needing constant supervision, rather than competent adults merely trying to provide the best lives for their families.
The company and management does not respect boundaries, preferences, or disabilities. If you have any of those, expect management to disrespect them and trample all over you. All for their own needs to inflate their egos.
HR is the classic, predictable “they’re not on your side, they only protect the company.” If you face any sort of harassment from management, HR will immediately side with management against you and try to shut you down as quickly as possible. They will give vague answers in corporate lingo to any issues or questions that are brought up to them, with the final verdict typically being “because I said so.”
I have seen HR be complicit in the actual theft of earned employee wages. So be warned if you apply here: not only are you being paid far below market value, Exeter will do everything it can to not pay you what you fully earned.
In regards to how customers are treated, please look up the hundreds of reviews and testimonies that have been posted online, as well as the ProPublica and Dallas Morning News articles regarding how Exeter’s extension policy is not made fully apparent to customers.
Their intentional lack of transparency highlights how untruthful and shady Exeter is as a company.
