Pros
Decent Initial Pay. Relaxed working environment. Friendly co-workers. Always something to work on (unless there's not). Good managers who will fight for you if they believe in your ability. If you're looking for a good position and don't mind staying in the same function indefinitely, then go for it.
Cons
The position you come in on rarely changes. Your responsibilities may change, and even increase, but there's a low chance of promotion since the company hierarchy is fixed and rigid. There are only a few spots above where you are and those spots are locked. Unless someone above you leaves, your not getting promoted (IF your're the next in the pecking order, if not, good luck). Upper management has an agenda that isn't always communicated well if not at all, so things can get frustrating real fast. If you're a motivated person who is looking to innovate, you may run into some walls and get very frustrated at managements talk of change and their unfortunate inaction. I'm sure there's an understandable reason for it, but it's never ever communicated.
