Pros

Compensation, literally that is it as other reviewers have also noted.

Cons

Beware of this company especially in IT. Their management is inept and every department is on different wavelengths. HR is completely incompetent and will dismiss any issue you may have. They claim to be “diverse and inclusive” but beware, this is ONLY a claim. They do not follow what they preach in terms of values. I have never worked in a more hostile environment in my 20 years of employment. If their upper management do not like you or you speak up? You will be fired. I saw it happen 20+ times in my four years there. And that’s just the ones I knew about. The management is a boys club and the women to do get there? Well they suck it up and deal with it but they talk about it behind the men’s backs. The company is completely gossip tolerant and cliquey, It felt like high school. I strongly suggest not working for this company unless you enjoy horribly out of date IT practices (think waterfall/hybrid at the worst extreme), they hate suggestions or change, and if you speak up? You’re out. It’s a mess of a company especially the IT department as of now. Their old CEO brought in a consultant and created chaos right before he left (or was pushed out as most people say...). Hopefully the new CEO sees through the managers and HR department to see how corrupt and inept they are. Avoid working here at all costs. Trust me.

We appreciate your feedback. Over the last year, there have been changes to our leadership team. Although we’ve had changes in leadership, our values have not changed nor has our commitment to diversity and inclusion. The Bank’s culture is built on diversity and inclusion. We believe it’s important to ensure all voices, perspectives and experiences are heard. And, we’re continuing our work to ensure that diversity and inclusion penetrates all areas of our business – both inside and outside the Bank. I’m sorry you felt like your concerns were not addressed. We want any employee to say something if they see a situation that is not consistent with our values. We have several ways for employees and leaders to say something if they see something not consistent with our values. Please feel free to contact me directly (nbetz@fhlbdm.com) if you’d like to discuss your experience. My door is always open whether you’re employed at the Bank or not. Unsure of advancement opportunities. Compliance and regulations (FHFA is regulator) are onerous.

Thank you for your review. The work we do for our members gives us a shared sense of purpose. And while we aren't a huge organization with endless opportunities to advance, we are a great mid-sized company with endless opportunities to develop!
