Pros

Break room has fountain drinks and snacks, weekly recognition for positive group interactions, health benefits were very reasonable

Cons

- Raises? Non-existent. - Career advancement? I hope you like the job you were hired to do because opportunities are few and far between. - If you do want to move up in the company, you better know somebody because the whole place is predicated by a good ole boy network of long-timers and ass-kissers. You have to socialize with management to get in their graces, but if someone who is already there speaks ill of you, true or not, you're doomed. - No margin for error in the company's financials. When they get cash-strapped, which has been happening more and more often lately with the soft real estate market, they found that they can make budget by first, cutting overall salaries by a percentage...then by releasing employees. Granted, temporary salary cuts are not necessarily unexpected to deal with sudden downward market pressures, but both times it happened in my 2 1/2 years there, salaries never returned to their previous levels because they tied to monthly revenue goals...but the new monthly goals were set much higher than previous years' expectations. - Salary cuts were tougher on lower- and middle-income employees. - When times were good, budget was squirreled away or eaten by a new project...never sent as bonuses or raises. When times were bad, salary, benefit, and employment cuts were the norm.
