You can be a big fish in a small pond - Senior Software Engineer FactSet Employee Review

Pros

It's a good, medium sized company to work at. Not so big that you don't have the chance to know everyone in your department (Engineering, Sales, Systems, etc), and not so small that everyone knows everything about everyone else. Managers work their way up through engineering, so you can talk to someone 4 levels above you about detailed technical problems if you want. If you work hard, you can get a good name and respect for yourself.

Cons

Most software engineering jobs involve some sort of on-call obligations. Usually it's not too bad, but some groups do get paid a lot. The pay could be better.

Pros

Work from home 3-4 days a weeks

Cons

Senior Management is Akin to a Sorority or Fraternity. They are treated exceptionally well and are shameless in their pursuits of recognition. Forced socialization - whether or not you participate in company events is part of your performance reviews. It's not enough to be a friendly, helpful coworker DEI Disgrace - millions and millions of dollars spent on making sure the wrong people are in the wrong job. But hey, they're the right ethnicity! Forced volunteering - another part of your annual review. They give you time off to volunteer at a company-sponsored event. But if you are the type who likes to just do your job, go home, and find life's satisfaction elsewhere, don't join Factset!
