Pros
Very engaging work with kids. Flexibility on the interventions you are allowed to use for different kids' needs. Flexibility on crafting your schedule. Genuinely spiritually and emotionally meaningful work. Management is responsive to specific requests, and HR issues generally get resolved fairly quickly. The psychiatrists/psychiatric nurses are really good, care a lot about clients, and care a lot about principled and scientifically-backed care. Admin team in Jonesboro seems to genuinely care and to know what they are doing.
Cons
Mgmt has no idea and doesn't care if you use principled, evidenced-based practices to actually help people need *less* services. You can bill services for YEARS on a client, and do nothing but nag kids in session. No concern for clients' input when switching kids from 1 therapist to another. I had several middle-school girls (with significant issues of auditory hallucinations, history of parental neglect, bullying, SI, etc.) who got switched to new therapists (against their choice) to make bookkeeping easier. Mgmt thinking that one of the goals of mental health services is to foster "compliance" in working-class people rather than mental well-being. Occasionally condescending, gossipy attitude towards assertive clients/parents whom mgmt considers "difficult." The case managers that therapists work with are paid poverty wages, and their roles are not well-defined.
