Pros

Well known brand and respected reputation in the industry (Financial Services). My personal manager and other low- to mid-range managers of highest caliber and integrity.

Cons

What the heck happened since Roger Lawson came on board two years ago???!?!??!? Deteriorating from the inside.. and fast. Hack job management and direction setting at highest level(s) of management. Right hand doesn't know what the left is doing.... whack 20% of best people based on "secret sauce magic formula" in recent layoffs -- meanwhile setting new strategic direction in the areas which they just cut the top performers. Ridiculous. Firm has a stranglehold on employees financial life - and by extension the rest of employee's family also. Red tape upon red tape to make trades in personal ROTH or investment accounts - and onerous disclosure requirements (4 times a year) to meet a standard intended for Fund managers - not Sysadmins. Morale in the tank. Lowest I've ever seen it in 11+ years. Excellent environment if you want to ensure you retain the poor talent and ensure the best talent leaves the company. For example: Keep putting out ungodly levels of production.. and oh, by the way - no merit raises regardless of your rating or value to the firm -- and year end bonus (a significant incentive to reach stated goals) is a big question mark. Therefore highest performers treated exactly the same as poorest performers. Attitude of "Where else are you going to go? There are no jobs right now." ... Ha! Just watch.

Pros

Benefits including profit sharing and bonuses are great. The breadth of this company provides a great opportunity to try out different career paths or boost your current one.

Cons

In my current role, I am working overtime more often than I'd like with recognition that seems to only go so far until it sizzles out. That may be tied to the size of the company itself, where promotions work in a "trickle down" manner.
